The worst week of the year was the worst week for games, according to new research from UK gaming publisher The Humble Bundle.
The latest survey found that while there was a spike in sales in the first half of 2017, it fell off in the second half.
There was also a drop in revenue, with the average game publisher reporting a loss of £14.65m.
The survey also found that the number of new players and new game purchases in the US fell by 8% year-on-year in January.
The biggest losers were The Escapists 2, which was down by 9% to £19.8m, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, down by 8.8% to a reported £19m.
There were also some big drops in overall game sales, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt down 10.3% to $82.7m, The Last of Us: Remastered down 10% to US$104m, Destiny 2 down 9.9% to UK$130.5m, Assassin’s Destiny down 6.4% to €110m and Minecraft: Story Mode down 6% to EU$109m.

Black Flag saw a significant drop in sales, as did The Witcher 2.
Destiny 2 and The Escapsist 2 both saw a drop, but Assassin’s Adventure saw a fall.
The HbB also found the number in the UK of casual games was down 10%, while the number buying online games was up 7%.
The report found that gamers spent £11.1bn in the 12 months to January, with a decline in spending due to the economic uncertainty that followed Brexit and the rise of social media.
The UK is not the only market experiencing a downturn, with digital sales also falling in 2016.
